In the 1930s, Ouyang Tian Qing and a group of young women from Guangdong journey to Singapore in search of work. Wearing bright red headscarves, they become known as the "Red Scarves" as they take on tough construction jobs to survive.

Among them is Bai Wei, who travels to Singapore—then known as Xingzhou—to seek a tutoring job with the wealthy Lu family. On the way, she meets Lu Xueting, the charming third son of the family. Meanwhile, Tian Qing’s younger sister, He Xiao Chan, flees an arranged marriage and joins them on the journey.

Upon arrival, Xiao Chan is blackmailed by gangster Kuang Haisheng, a member of the Dragon King gang, after trying to avoid her travel fare. Bai Wei intervenes, and the three women form a close bond. Unexpectedly, Kuang Haisheng begins to fall in love. Their paths soon cross with Nan Lan, a mysterious and elegant woman from Xingzhou, whose presence changes everything.

This is a heartfelt story of resilience, friendship, and love—following the lives of Chinese women abroad as they navigate hardship and hope while carrying their culture into a new world.
